"John Brown is a big time, highlight reel, high flyer dunker and I think he's the best dunker in college basketball."- Jay Bilas, ESPN -
"It's hard to stop that kid. "It's the old Keith Olbermann, 'you can only hope to contain him,' and it's true when it comes to that kid. He's a great, great player. He's got a chance to play in the NBA and is an All-American candidate."- Pat Kelsey, Head Coach - Winthrop University
"He goes all out every second that he is on the court, and that is very much a skill, one that's as tough to develop as a consistent three-point stroke or a dangerous low-post game."- Rob Dauster, NBCSports.com -
"He is the Vince Carter of the Big South Conference, a high-flyer who semi-frequently does something so breathtaking that it transcends the small world of High Point University and in the course of a few hours is widely Vined and YouTubed, sets fire to college hoops Twitter, pulls in traffic for all relevant blogs and crashes SportsCenter's Top 10-a comet of a highlight that burns brightly."- Luke Winn, Sports Illustrated -
"There have been more than 10,000 men who have played Division I basketball in the past six seasons. Sports-Reference has a list of the 100 best seasons in that span in terms of perhaps the most valuable metric for value: player efficiency rating (PER). John Brown occupies three of those spots in the top 100. His career PER is second-best in all of college basketball since 2009."- Matt Norlander, CBSSports.com -
"He's really something. He obviously is an elite athlete. But his level of effort and energy is just exceptional and as good as anyone I've ever seen."- Chris Mooney, Head Coach - University of Richmond
"This 6-foot-8 ultra-athletic forward brings an incredible amount of energy to the court. Brown can guard multiple positions and is also a guy you don't have to run plays for in order for him to be effective."- Jeff Goodman, ESPN.com -

#0 John Brown Full Stats
John has led HPU to three-straight regular season conference championships, making high point one of just six schools nationally to do so
(Kansas, Gonzaga, Davidson, Stephen F. Austin, Harvard)

John serves as motivational speaker and lead instructor when HPU men's basketball team visits inner city schools and after-school programs throughout the year, teaching basketball skills and offering life advice. He also reads to students at Kirkman Park Elementary School throughout the season. In 2013, he served as a part of the HPU Habitat for Humanity contingent that built a house in High Point. He helps serve food to the less fortunate at Open Door Ministries in High Point and assists with HPU men's basketball's participation in the Salvation Army Stuff-A-Stocking program each holiday season.

Brown's sense of purpose and goals for his future are deeply influenced by his past. Raised by his grandmother and mother, John developed a strong sense of family while living above the influence in a difficult part of Jacksonville. After the passing of his grandmother during his freshman year and his mother unexpectedly in 2015, Brown is driven daily by the desire to provide for his six-year old brother, Ja'Ron. Once his time in basketball is done, John wants to serve as a motivational speaker in Jacksonville, to help local children battle the same adversity he once faced as a kid.
